During the last few weeks We have been busy behind the scenes preparing for the return of the ACTUAL Seaside Runs! We are pleased to announce that we now have all the licences and permissions in place to offer a reduced series of three ACTUAL races on the last Wednesday in July, August and September. We will keep the cost the same i.e. £7 (non affiliated) and £5 (UKA affiliated), but there will be no prizes or awards. Details of how to register for the July race will be available soon. We will continue with the virtual races until the end of August so for July and August you could do both or use your actual race result as your virtual result! Hope all that makes sense and get ready to enter the first Seaside Run of 2021. To enter follow the link below.

The race will actually start with Gordon’s starting gun on the next to last Wednesday of each month at 7.00 pm, from then you will be able to upload your race times and information. You can share your times, photos etc. to our Facebook page as in the past.

You can run any 5k course you choose, please keep to the lockdown rules and stay safe. Most people go for downhill with the wind behind them!

As previously you will have one week to upload your 5k race details, which has to have taken place in that week.

There will be the usual gender and age categories and no age limitations, upper or lower.

All results will be shown on the Nifty Timing Seaside Race page.

We will shout “STOP” at the finish line on the last Wednesday of the month at 8pm.

The overall winners and category positions will then be available immediately and will go forward to the second race of the series to build up a league table.

Gordon and I like to keep things as simple as possible, and this sounds more difficult than it is, if you have any queries please let us know, we will do our best to get you going.

So let the fun begin.

Photographs – Just a quick note to all Seaside Runners, that there a number of people who take photographs at our event.

Photographs are by far and away the most popular posts on Facebook, they are eagerly awaited by most runners, and appear on other social media and on our website

Mark also take photos of winners etc, and we have recently had a request for a drone to follow the run, it will be great to see the action in video. We welcome all these records as part of the event, however if you have any objections can you please let us know beforehand.

In 2017 we introduced more prizes for competitors and also a league for the six races, with prizes for some age categories.

Wirral Seaside Runs is a series of six races of 5 km, organised by Pensby Runners. The runs are held monthly from March to August each year. All races are online entry only and numbers can be collected on the day from Leasowe Lighthouse.  There is ample free parking available.

The Seaside race start is from near Leasowe Lighthouse, Moreton, along the sea embankment to finish at Harrison Drive just past the Derby Pool pub and near to Wallasey Village. While most run back to the car park at the start you will need to arrange transport at the finish otherwise. It is a flat and fast course and provides a regular indicator of fitness and performance. The races are very popular with club runners and also beginners and joggers and have become a permanent fixture on the running scene of Merseyside over the last 30 years. Although there is no formal cut off time it is expected that new ‘seasiders’ will aim to complete the three miles within 45 minutes.
