Welcome to the Wirral Seaside Runs website.

After 4 seasons as race director I have decided to step down and pass the reins on to two of my Pensby Runner friends who have volunteered to step up-many of you will know them already, Gordon Schofield and Mark Roberts. The growing success of the series and my personal work commitments made the administration too great for one person so Pensby Runners will look to share that burden and have some exciting thoughts on how to sustain and further develop the series.  Gordon and Mark will share those ideas with you soon.

It has been a privilege to support the races and Seaside Runners during the course of which you have raised over £5000 that we have been able to donate to our nominated charities-long may that continue! I expect still to volunteer or race when I can and Phil will continue to man the finish in his inimitable style!

Best to all,     Jim Fedigan

Wirral Seaside Runs is a traditional series of eight small friendly races of  3 mile/5 km, run in support of local charities and organised by Pensby Runners. They are held monthly from March to October each year. All races are enter on the day with registration inside Leasowe Lighthouse.  There is loads of free parking available. We have just completed the final October race of the season.

Grand Prix trophies have been distributed but some are still to be collected. I will post more details soon.

Thanks to all for supporting us this year and to all our volunteers- our charities are the beneficiaries!

The Seaside race start is from near Leasowe Lighthouse, Moreton, along the sea embankment to finish at Harrison Drive just past the Derby Pool pub and near to Wallasey Village. While most run back to the car park at the start you will need to arrange transport at the finish otherwise. It is a flat and fast course and provides a regular indicator of fitness and performance. They are very popular with club runners and also beginners and joggers and have become a permanent fixture on the running scene of Merseyside over the last 30 years. Although there is no formal cut off time it is expected that new ‘seasiders’ will aim to complete the three miles within 45 minutes.

Check out the location and route map and upcoming race dates. Don’t forget the Seaside Runs Grand Prix Series – new laser etched glass trophies will be  awarded at the end of the season for completing 6 races!IMG_20160128_233140
